Hospital visit

Esophageal Cancer

Hey everyone. A little update as to what has been going on. Over the past several weeks, I have developed this process called Air Fascia where you suck in to much air and then many things can happen. For me, I throw up before it even goes down to digest.

Backing up a few days. Last week I spoke to my oncologist and it was decided it was time to go get a scope and see what if anything is a the problem, like scar tissue or something else. I had to do a pre screening by doing a covid test today, so that I can have the procedure done on Monday June 6th. Should be a few hours. The procedure will run about 45 minutes. If they can see or do anything, they will dilate the esophagus (expand it) so that I can swallow normal food. This could be caused as I said about from scar tissue. It’s common.

So let’s cross our fingers that this works. I am am really tired of throwing up almost every meal. And yes, I try again and again till I can get full. But that is so exhausting. I trust this surgeon here in Gaylord, so I wil lnot be going to the Mayo clinic at this time.

Everything else has been good. My oncologist has me on potassium twice per day as my numbers we way too low. And I am taking Omeprazole for the acid reflux. Seems like I will taking that for the rest of my days. My potassium is up so that has worked. I will stay on that for a bit longer.

And let’s not forget I am on my 2nd round of chemo, they are giving me Opdivo. So far so good. I have one more visit that will make my 4th visit with this drug and then I will only have to go get it once month for 11 more months. It’s a 12 month treatment plan.

I will update you after the procedure on Monday. That’s it for now.
