The road to a full recovery. The surgeon got all the cancer out, about 10cm. The cancer had spread to 2 lymph nodes. The chemo and radiation killed them! YEAH ME!

April 25th-29th, 2022

Eating is slow, about 7-10 small meals per day. Having some issues and need to reach out to the surgical team. I am not able at times to get food down. I can not figure out what is happening.

May 2nd, 2022

Went to my first outing to eat out. We chose Firehouse subs. I had to find something I could eat. No bread! Ever! So they made me a bowl of meatballs and 5 cheese Macaroni. Good! Again, I could not keep food down, so we had to leave so I can get back home. Not embarrassing, just sucks to go through this.

May 26th, 2022

Had my 3rd infusion of chemo today. Also met with Dr about me not being able to swallow food. Seems my air facia is just too much for me. So we are going to schedule for a scope. By to Dr Hardin I go.

March 10th, 2022

Released to go home 1 day early. I am doing so well. It is difficult but I am going to fight this to a good outcome.

April 3rd, 2022

Not only is this day my birthday, but I also get to do my surgery follow up back to Mayo Clinic we go. GOOD NEWS! I can start to eat soft foods and drink water again!

April 18th, 2022

Went to Dr Hardin, the surgeon that found the cancer and had my feeding tube pulled out. OMG! I am so happy it is gone. But it means now I am on my own to eat 100 percent.

April 29th, 2022

Called the surgical team support. Turns out I am sucking in too much air and have developed Air Facia. It happens, so back to eating even slower and smaller portions and try eating even softer foods.

May 12th, 2022

Started my 2nd infusion of Opdivo chemo. Went well, ate a little grilled chicken and 2 Raspberry sherberts.

June 3rd, 2022

Covid testing for pre testing to go into the hospital for a scope on Monday the 6th

June 6th, 2022

Scope was done. They took a biopsy with hopes it's just bacteria. They dilated my esophagus. So far so goo. Slept a better part of the day after I got home.

June 17th, 2022

Scope was done for the 2nd time. So far so good after 3 days. Time will tell if this is all I need. Was a very long day of over 15 hours not eating. Surgery was delayed till late evening.
